NO TIME FOR DOWNTIME
Let’s face it, downtime anywhere has huge consequences for a business’s bottom line. Multiply that by a factor of 10 with added safety and political pressure when it’s an energy facility. Here, the financial ramifications of even a minute of downtime weigh like a 40-ton container on the shoulder of management. So, when a major nuclear facility needed some very specialized tools and equipment “right here, right now" to get their facility back online, they called John at CTC.
For the size and scope of this delivery it seemed inevitable that air transport was the right solution. But with a $40K price tag the management gave CTC the challenge of reducing the cost without sacrificing a minute of time or compromising the dependability delivery. With all things factored in, CTC calculated that a truck could take about the same time to get to the destination as any air/ground service - if there were no “mitigating circumstances.” Putting any vehicle on the highway these days is not only risky from a traffic/collision standpoint, it’s too risky from a mechanical breakdown standpoint.
SOLUTION : A Truck Caravan.
By creating a tag-team of trucks strategically stationed along the route, CTC insured that the delivery was never compromised by mechanical or traffic issues. If truck A had an issue, truck B was waiting and ready. Needless to say, the client got what they were promised, on time and at a significant cost savings.
